The Stelmor Controlled Cooling Conveyor System incorporates a wide range of processing conditions, including both fast and slow cooling in a single system, enabling mills to produce a wide spectrum of plain carbon and alloy steels, as well as stainless steels and other specialty grades. This process flexibility results in improved as-rolled rod properties, thus eliminating or accelerating downstream processes such as spheroidize annealing.

The Stelmor® conveyor can be operated with the covers closed without air blowing (retarded mode) or covers open and air blowing (standard mode).

Solid heat resistant ductile iron rollers are used in all zones. High volume/high static pressure centrifugal fans are used for air blowing and Optiflex plenums are provided for controlling air distribution across the width of the conveyor.

Precise control of rod temperatures during cooling is essential to producing rod with the desired mechanical and metallurgical properties. The Stelmor Controlled Cooling Conveyor System is a proven, cost-effective way to achieve optimum and more uniform tensile strength, lower scale weight, and better descalability — features that are especially important for wire-drawing and cold-forming customers. Stelmor can be fully automated to provide the most consistent and uniform mechanical and metallurgical properties available today, while its performance and reliability over a wide speed range can contribute to your mill’s competitiveness and profitability.
