The Reducing/Sizing Mill, for bar or rod, provides the capability for finished product tolerance as low as +/- 0.1 mm with 0.1 mm ovality and enables a single family of process sizes from the preceding stands. Quick-change transfer cars for off-line setup and automatic service couplings are all features that contribute to minimum mill downtime and high mill utilization. Other benefits include "Free size rolling" where several discrete finished sizes can be produced simply by changing the roll parting-without making groove, roll or guide changes, lower temperature rolling for improved metallurgical characteristics, and for bar producers the Bar Reducing/sizing Mill is also capable of producing squares, hexagons, flats, rebar, etc.
