The Morgan Roll Inventory
Management System (MRIMS) is a tool specifically designed for managing
information related to rolls and roll sets in a rod or bar mill.
This information includes, but is not limited to, ordering and purchasing
data, roll storage locations, roll groove assignments, roll use
and grinding history.
MRIMS tracks roll sets designated for specific rolling families
or rolling lines and chooses the best combination of roll sets to
use in upcoming campaigns. A roll shop using MRIMS has accurate
inventory and usage information for all rolls consolidated in one
package, thus enabling the personnel to make the best choices in
managing the roll inventory.
MRIMS is written to be a flexible, user-friendly system designed
to easily manage a large and diverse roll inventory, while providing
data to evaluate roll and mill performance, plus generate information
to accurately plan roll expenditures for the whole mill. Morgan's
"programmed in" expert knowledge of selecting rolls efficiently
and consistently will streamline roll shop operations and optimize
the use of rolls.
