The Morgan Guide Inventory Management System (MGIMS) is a computer software package that has been specifically designed for managing information for all guides, guide components and most other wear parts in a rod or bar mill. This information includes purchasing data, history of use, reconditioning and storage locations. In addition, the system is used to configure the guides into groups to produce families of sizes in the mill.

Guides for all sections and strands of the mill can be included. The complete history of the guides, from ordering to selection and number of tons rolled in the mill, is maintained by the computer system.

The MGIMS system is written to be a flexible, user-friendly package, that provides a means of easily managing large numbers of guides, selecting guides efficiently and consistently, plus providing data for evaluation of guide performance.
