Chinese Copper mill upgrades with Morgan
WORCESTER, Mass., USA, 16 October, 2007

In response to Chinese market demands for higher quality products, the Jiangsu Jiang Run Copper Co., Ltd. of Yixing, People’s Republic of China has ordered an SCR 7000 system for its copper rod mill.

In announcing the contract, John T. Buell, Manager, Non-Ferrous Sales for Morgan Construction Company, noted the SCR 7000 system is being supplied to Jiansu Jiang Run by the Southwire Company of Carrollton, GA.

Under the terms of contract, Morgan will supply the mill with an entry and intermediate shear, 13 stands – one 18-inch, four 12-inch and eight 8-inch stands, a pickling line, pinch rolls, turndown, coiler and a conveyor. The mill’s guaranteed speed will be 48 metric tonnes per hour. Most of the equipment will be manufactured in Morgan’s Worcester facility.

“This system will replace their existing rod capacity and improve the quality of their rod products,” Buell said. “Today’s Chinese market demands higher quality products, and Jiangsu Jiang Run will be able to meet those demands.” Delivery is planned for January 2008.

Morgan and Southwire have worked together for more than 30 years. During that time, Morgan has built more than 60 non-ferrous mills for Southwire customers, in addition to completing some 30 upgrades.
