Morgan to Add Bar and Coil Outlet at GSW
WORCESTER, Mass., Oct. 24, 2005
Global Steel Wire, S.A., (GSW) of Santander, Spain,
has recently ordered an upgrade to its existing rod mill from Morgan
Construction Company.
According to Michael Shore, Senior VP, Engineering-Rolling
Mill Technology, “The contract with GSW calls for the addition
of a bar-in-coil outlet to that company’s existing Morgan
rod mill. The addition will include a three-stand bar reducing sizing
mill (BRSM),” which he said is a new concept of the traditional
four-stand BRSM.
He added that Morgan will also provide pinch rolls,
shears, pouring reels, and cooling conveyors. “The new
bar and coil outlet, when completed, will produce bar sizes 22 mm
to 52 mm.
“Additionally, the existing rod mill,
which includes a rod reducing sizing mill (RSM), will be upgraded
to achieve rolling speeds of up to 105m/s.”
The upgrade will be designed at Morgan’s Worcester,
MA, headquarters, while the equipment will be manufactured at its
worldwide sources. Delivery of the new equipment is scheduled for
May 2006.
Morgan Construction Company is a designer and producer
of high-quality rolling mill products and services for the metal
industry worldwide.
