Morgan Sets New Company Safety Record
WORCESTER, Mass., October 1, 2003
Morgan Construction Company set a new safety
record for the company when on August 17, it passed two-years without
experiencing a lost-time accident.
When the company did experience a lost-time
accident several weeks later, i.e., a machinist who suffered a sprained
ankle had to miss work for three days, the company completed a total
of 747 days since its last lost-time accident.
Ed Kenney, senior vice president, Quality
Processing & Manufacturing, and co-chair of the Safety Committee,
said, "The two-year record, which was equivalent to 1.8 million
man hours, is a remarkable achievement that included more than 600
employees who work at Morgan manufacturing, installation and subsidiary
locations throughout the world.
"This accomplishment," he pointed
out, "not only prevents our people from suffering serious injuries,
which is good for our employees, it contributes to quality workmanship,
and reduced production and rework costs, which is good news for
our customers."
The company, which launched its safety program
in 1992, set a previous high of 598 days when it went without experiencing
a lost-time accident in 2001.
