
Morgan Receives Contract to Build Aluminum
Mill
WORCESTER, Mass., April 2, 2002
Morgan Construction Company has received an order
to design, build and install an aluminum rod mill for Guizhou Aluminum
Corporation of Guiyang, in Guizhou Province, People's Republic of
China. This will be that company's first Morgan mill.
According to John T. Buell, Manager of Nonferrous
Sales, the order is part of a contract for an SCR AL 3500 aluminum
rod mill system. He said that the order is being subcontracted to
Morgan by Southwire Company of Carrollton, Ga.
"Under the terms of the contract," he
continued, "Morgan will supply engineering for an entry shear
and table, as well as the design and manufacture of a 10-stand rolling
mill and a dual reel level wound coiler."
He said the mill is rated to produce electrical
conductor rod at a rate of eight metric tons per hour, and 6101
and 6201 alloys at a rate of 6.5 metric tons per hour. Shipment
is scheduled for January 2003.
Morgan, who has worked together with Southwire
for over 30 years, has built more than 60 nonferrous mills for Southwire
customers, in addition to completing 25 to 30 upgrades.
