SIDENOR Commissions Water Cooling System
WORCESTER, Mass., February 20, 2001
The in-line, high-pressure water-cooling boxes
incorporating Morgan Construction Company's Enhanced Temperature
Control System (METCS) have been commissioned at SIDENOR's Vitoria
(Spain) Rod Mill.
Ron Varo, Chief Metallurgist, who said that this
was SIDENOR's first order with Morgan, noted that system was engineered
and installed by Morgan-Europe, a subsidiary based in Sheffield,
United Kingdom.
"The cooling boxes," he continued, "were
installed and commissioned during the company's annual shutdown
period. The Final Acceptance Tests (FATs) were completed soon afterward,"
he added. The installation of the cooling boxes at the Vitoria plant,
a single-strand combination rod and bar mill, was part of a phased
modernization program of the SIDENOR mills.
The Vitoria mill produces a wide variety of plain-carbon,
low-alloy and stainless steel rods for the automotive and general
engineering industries.
Morgan Construction Company, is a designer and
producer of high-quality rolling mill products and services for
