Morgan Receives Patent For ARGA System
WORCESTER, Mass., June 7, 2000
Morgan Construction Company has received confirmation
of its patent for an Automatic Roll Group Alignment (ARGA) System
from the United States, Japan and Korea. The inventor credited with
this innovation is Ruth E. Kirkwood-Azmat, Process Control Engineer.
According to Kirkwood, "In conventional rod
and bar mills, the finishing stand rolls have multiple grooves to
facilitate pass changes. As this is a manual process, it can take
hours to complete the process due to the need stop the rolling and
to manually change equipment. By using this patented process, the
roll pass grooves are aligned automatically during production, taking
minutes to complete the process, and in some cases, less than a
minute.
"The advantage of this patented process is
not only to decrease operational downtime, but also to improve output,
setup times, product quality and accuracy, mill control and operating
consistency, all of which contribute to lower production costs."
Morgan Construction Company, is a designer and
producer of high-quality rolling mill products and services for
the metal industry worldwide.
