Morgan do Brasil Receives Order From Gerdau Group, Brazil
Sao Paolo, Brazil, May 14, 1997

Morgan do Brasil has received a contract from the Gerdau Group of Parto Alegre, Brazil, to supply three ring distributors to two of Gerdau's plants. Prior to this order, Morgan has supplied more than 70 roller guides and two prefinishing mills with side looper and snap shear to Gerdau, whose mills produce rebar and wire rod.

According to Fernando Guerra, managing director of Morgan do Brasil, "We will be supplying two ring distributors to upgrade an existing two-strand rod mill at the Cosigua plant in Rio de Janeiro, and one ring distributor to upgrade an existing one-strand rod mill at the Usiba plant in Salvador."

Guerra explained that the order will be designed at Morgan Construction Company, the parent firm in Worcester, Mass., USA, and manufactured by Morgan do Brasil/Duraferro. He added that this new equipment will provide the customer with payback of less than one year. Delivery is scheduled for November, 1997.
